Choosing a T Shirt for a Date

As a guy, when going on a date it is customary to wear a shirt at least and some dark jeans or even some smart trousers. However while this is the easy option when it comes to attire, it is not always possible – if you are going on a date to play sports for instance, or if you are going somewhere casual during the day – then wearing a shirt can be inappropriate.

In this scenario you then have the difficult question of what kind of t shirt to wear and here you have many options. The idea is to make yourself look good while at the same time projecting a mostly honest image of what you are like so that your date can start to get a feel for who you are and whether they would like to date you.

There are some things that you might not want to show right away however. For instance if you are heavily into sport as a man you may want to initially avoid sport t shirts as this can be off putting to some women. Sport t shirts are also not considered smart particularly if they are jerseys. Another one to avoid is gaming t shirts or Star Wars t shirts as these sometimes also carry bad connotations. That doesn't mean that if you're slightly geeky that you can't work it though, and there are certainly some chic geek t shirts. For instance superhero t shirts are tongue in cheek while also being bold and brave – consisting of primary colors and even more colorful characters. It takes guts to pull off this look and it shows that you have a sense of humor and don't take yourself too seriously. At the same time though many women are closet geeks too and this is a good way to test the water and to see if that gets a good response (a geek girl is a great find for any guy). Furthermore, by wearing superhero t shirts you can make yourself look buff and heroic like the characters themselves and this is certainly a good association to create. If you want to create an image of the manly hero who'll look after her, then this might just work.

Another good option is humorous t shirts. This works well because it again shows that you don't take yourself too seriously and that you have a sense of humor (very attractive to women). Furthermore if you can make her laugh then right away she'll think of you as a fun guy and relax and start to enjoy herself. This is a good association to make and a great way to start a date.

However just because you are wearing message t shirts or geek t shirts does not mean that you can't have good quality attire. It is still very important to make sure that you look good and that the t shirts you wear are high quality – otherwise it will look as though you just made no effort and that is certainly not what you want them thinking.
